Hi. My name is Niko, a current PhD student in Bioengineering at the California Institute of Technology (CalTech).

I hold a Master of Research (MRes) in Systems and Synthetic Biology from Imperial College London, where I worked with Rodrigo Ledesma-Amaro and Tom Ellis. I received my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Iowa.

I am interested in:
- Ongoing research in synthetic biology and genome synthesis.

-  Reducing the labor costs and errors associated with human-driven wet lab work via lab automation

- Scientific outreach through literature and art

When I'm not doing work in the lab or studying, I like to write.

Some of my favorite books:

-The Black Cloud by Sir Fred Hoyle
-Tesla: Inventor of the Electrical Age by W. Bernard Carlson
-Regenesis by George Church and Ed Regis
-The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
-How Economics Shapes Science by Paula Stephan
-The Four Books by Yan Lianke
-Man's Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl
-King Solomon's Ring by Konrad Lorenz
